Little Scholars is committed to providing a safe environment for our students. We will adhere to policies and procedures in accordance with the CDC guidelines for schools and camps.
- Parents will be required to send a full water bottle labeled with their child’s name to camp/class.
- For backyard camps and enrichment programs, parents will be required to send a beach towel labeled with their child’s name to promote safe social distancing.
- Parents MAY be required (depending on the program) to send in miscellaneous materials (markers, scissors, and glue), food and/or Legos for their child to ensure that supplies are not shared among the students.
- For outside programs, teachers and students are not required to cover their faces with a cloth face covering. If the host prefers our teacher to wear a mask, Little Scholars’ teacher will comply with this request. If the host wants the children to wear masks during the camp/class, parents will be required to send a face covering with their child each day. Masks for children will not be provided by Little Scholars.
- For small group programs in a family’s home, the host family will dictate the mandates for face coverings. Masks will not be provided by Little Scholars.
- Teachers and students will be required to wear a face-covering while moving around the Little Scholars building. Masks will not be provided by Little Scholars.
- Teachers will wear a mask while they are in your home.
- Parents will be required to take their child’s temperature each day as a part of an ‘honor system’ for programs outside of the Little Scholars’ building. Little Scholars will take the temperature before entering our building.
- Parents will be required to keep children with a fever and/or who are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms at home.
- Little Scholars will review, teach, and reinforce keeping hands clean and covering coughs and sneezes among children and teachers.
- Little Scholars will remind teachers not to touch their faces or the face-covering and instruct them on the proper use, removal, and washing of cloth face coverings.
- Little Scholars will provide teachers with hand sanitizer and a cleaning solution.
- Little Scholars will encourage safe space seating at least six feet apart.
- Little Scholars will limit direct contact with parents as much as possible at arrival and drop-off.
- Little Scholars will keep each child’s belongings separated from others’ and in different areas.
- Little Scholars will avoid sharing toys, books, and other games or learning aids.
- Little Scholars will train all teachers and staff in the above safety actions.
- Little Scholars will designate a staff person to be responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns.
- Teachers will not be allowed to teach if they have a fever or displaying COVID-19 symptoms.
- Little Scholars will ensure that high-touch surfaces are routinely sanitized, and that contact is limited. Additionally, we have a nightly cleaning crew that will be coming in.
- If an individual experiences symptoms, they will be immediately separated from all other students and staff and sent home. They will be asked to quarantine until they receive test results. All parents will be notified and asked to be aware of any changes in their children.
- If a student or teacher tests positive for COVID-19, parents will be immediately notified and children will be sent home. If an individual tests positive, they will be required to quarantine for two weeks and receive two negative tests before returning to the program.
