Little Scholars Car Games

We love finding ways to make learning fun, and what better way than to make a game out of it. Our Car Games are simple enough to play in the car to pass the time.

To Grandmother’s House, We Go!

Grab some pencils and a list of items for each child to find such as a bus, a policeman, a skyscraper, a pond, a silo, and a cow. The first person to find all the items on their list wins.

Odd or Even

  1. Give your child a blank sheet of paper and a pencil.
  2. Set a time limit.
  3. Have one child look for plates that end in an odd number, and the other look for an even number.
  4. A dash should be marked for each car they find with an odd or even number.
  5. At the end of the time limit, have the children add up their marks.

Audiobooks

Why not listen to an audiobook? They will keep your children entertained and encourage them to use their imagination as they ‘see’ the story in their heads.

Table Topics for Kids

Pull a question card and start answering! Your children will build on their communication skills, vocabulary, and may learn something new! Click to buy online.

Grocery Store Activity Sheets

We take it for granted, there are words EVERYWHERE, and this opens up endless ways for your children to practice reading and spelling! Make a grocery list for your children and have them check off the items as you shop. Create your own for road trips!

String Figure Games Cat’s Cradles

Build fine motor skills, concentration skills, finger dexterity, and patience as your child take a piece of yarn to make Jacob’s Ladder, Kitty Whiskers, and Cup and Saucer.

My Name is…

A- my name is Ashley. My friend’s name is Alice. We live in Alabama. And we sell Apples!

Take turns and go through the alphabet.

Letter Magnetism!

Take a metal baking sheet and magnetic letters on your next road trip. Take turns calling out sight words, words that start with “c,”, animals, and see how many words your child can spell correctly?

Guess that Letter

One child holds out their hand and closes their eyes while the other child “writes” on their hand with their finger. Guess what letters, numbers, shapes, they wrote!

Simple Vocab Building Questions

Ask your child a question such as what is round and bounces or email is to internet, as a card is to?

Flashcards

Practice reading sight words and solving basic math facts.

Rhyming Games

This is an animal that rhymes with ten. What is it?…Hen!

Skip Counting

Practice skip counting for math facts by 2′s, 3′s, 5′s, and 10′s.

20 Questions

Ask your child to figure out what thing you are thinking about and tell them what letter it starts with. For example, “I am thinking of a vegetable that starts with the letter c.” Your child has a chance to ask up to 20 questions to figure out the answer.

Letter of the Day

Pick one letter a day and count how many places you see the letter on the way to school.

Let us know what you do to entertain your kids in the car. Leave your Car Games in the comment box below, and we’ll add them to the list.
